Jackrabbits Hockey Program at Sturgeon Heights Community Centre 2017-2018

If you wish to register online or have any questions, please email:  jackrabbits@sturgeonheightscc.com.

UPDATE: Our first session will be 11:00 am December 16th. If you have not yet registered, please show up at 10:00 am to complete the registration prior to our session.

We will be accepting registrations up to the start of our season in December 2017.

Jackrabbits hockey is a program that teaches skating and hockey skills in a non-competitive environment. In order for children to best enjoy the Jackrabbits program, they should possess basic skating skills.  Parents are reminded that this is not a “learn to skate” program.

The program will run Saturdays from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Sturgeon Heights Community Centre on the outdoor rinks.  The program will commence when outdoor ice becomes available (usually mid-December) and will finish when the ice is no longer available (usually mid-March).  The first 30 minutes will be dedicated to basic skill development and the last 30 minutes will be a scrimmage.

This program is for kids the ages of 4 to 15 who would like try hockey in a fun, relaxed atmosphere! Players will be broken into 3 groups (4,5,6 year olds – 7,8,9 year olds and 10+). All participants are required to have the MINIMUM hockey gear: Skates, Stick, Helmet with cage, and Hockey Gloves.

Preferred equipment would be: Skates, Stick, Helmet with cage,  Hockey Gloves, Neck Guard, Mouth Guard, Shoulder Pads, Elbow Pads, Shin Pads, Pants, Socks, and Jersey.

The cost per child is $80.00 for the entire season.  If you would like to purchase a Jackrabbits jersey for your child, there is an additional charge of $26.00. If a session can’t take place because of weather conditions (too cold, ice slushy, etc.) a partial refund will not be given.

We hope you find the electronic registration process convenient and easy to use. Please hover over the question marks on the registration form for more information about a field. At the beginning of the process you are given the option to import your information from any TeamSnap account you may have. This is not required but saves you a few key strokes. This registration process will create a new TeamSnap roster entry that will be available for team assignment.

What is the next step in the process? Registrations received up to September 4 will be reviewed to determine the number and calibre of teams we would like to plan on hosting. On September 7 discussions will start with other ringetteassociations to collectively work to find appropriate opportunities for all players. This process is complicated and does take time. SJRA will release more information as soon as possible and appreciates your patience.

R4U assessments will be held after registration. Players qualifying for Green level skills that were born in 2010 may request age advancement to U10.
